The Blackedge conger (''Bathycongrus retrotinctus'', also known as the Randall's conger〔(Common names for ''Bathycongrus retrotinctus'' ) at www.fishbase.org.〕) is an eel in the family Congridae (conger/garden eels).〔(''Bathycongrus retrotinctus'' ) at www.fishbase.org.〕 It was described by David Starr Jordan and John Otterbein Snyder in 1901, originally under the genus ''Leptocephalus''.〔Jordan, D. S. and J. O. Snyder, 1901 (28 Aug.) (2508 ) ''A review of the apodal fishes or eels of Japan, with descriptions of nineteen new species.'' Proceedings of the United States National Museum v. 23 (no. 1239): 837-890.〕 It is a marine, deep water-dwelling eel which is known from Japan to the Philippines, in the western Pacific Ocean. It dwells at a depth range of 150-450 metres. Males can reach a maximum total length of 54 centimetres.〔 ==References==
